The latest version of MsgSave includes the following updates: 

Override Default Options.
Saving selected messages/selected folder will have the option to override the default option settings. This will enable users to quickly save messages with a different naming convention or options without having to change the default options and then change them back again.

Save selected Mapped Folder.
This feature has been requested by a number of users so that they can have the option to just save one mapped folder. This means that if you have a large number of messages in a number of mapped folders and you only want to save the messages in one folder then you don`t need to save all Mapped Folders at once. This could save a lot of time if this is something you find you have to deal with.

Retain previous save location.
After closing the main dialog the selected save location was lost in previous versions. Teh next time you open MsgSave the save location would defrault to your Desktop. Now the previously selected save location is retained to make it easier to reuse this location if required.

Help - Quick Guide.
The Help - Quick Guide button now links to the appropriate copy of the User Guide on our website.

A number of new developments are planned for MsgSave and will be released in phases over the next few weeks.

Machine Identification.
Hardware fingerprints are proving to be a less than ideal mechanism for identfying each machine for registration.
Work is currently being done to improve this mechanism.

Application Startup.
The mechanisms involved in launcing the application are going to be slimmed down to improve application startup time.

The MsgSave products are now to be sold on a continuous licence basis.

MsgSave 5 was initially sold on a subscription basis in order to cover support costs and new development. This is proving to be unpopular with some customers so the decision was made to revert back to a continuous licence as was the case with previous versions.

Support is now available as an optional extra instead of being included in the licence fee and can be purchased as a subscription.

The benefits of purchasing support include:

• higher priority response given to customers with support subscription
• notification of new releases
• free upgrade to new major versions

A new and more advanced MsgSave Website was launched in August 2009 to meet the needs of worldwide customers with a new easy to use interface. The website has been designed as a full content management solution which means that the content can be updated by the team providing customers with more up-to-date information. Sarcophagus Ltd, the authors of Msgsave decided to coincide the launch of the website with a new license model loosing the annual subscription in favour of a more traditional long term license.

The website has been re-launched with a bright new look, new content, layout updates and features the latest MsgSave Version 5 which is available in Standard, Pro and Remote options. Standard is aimed at Soho and private customers whilst Pro offers corporate functionality such as improved security and the ability to standardise configuration across the team. Remote provides the corporate users with the added ability of being able to synchronise mail with a remote FTP site to provide added resilience.

The new site covers everything you need to know about using MsgSave including a free 30 day trial, user guide and brochure to help you become better acquainted with the products. You will even find a handy list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) under the “Further Information” section.

The Options tab has a new feature added which will enable users to save messages without attachments.
Save As type has been moved to the Options tab.

Improved Proxy Server detection mechanism.
Bug fix for Use Default Options not working correctly.
Attachments can now be saved with the same filename options as messages plus the attachment filename.
Non mail items in save selected messages bug fixed.

The decision to discontinue support for version 4 has been made due to the overwhelming amount of ongoing support being provided free of charge. This has been a drain on the company`s resources with no revenue being generated.
Version 4 users are being encouraged to upgrade to version 5 with a compensatory discount offer. Although there is no pressure to do so. They can continue to use version 4 for as long as they wish but no support will be provided.

Because Version 5 is licensed on a subscription basis it includes support and maintenance. Also, license management ie: transferring a license to another machine is much easier for customers to do without the need for our assistance
